## 1. Configuring bus termination
If you would like to use the CAN FD Gateway to also terminate one end of the bus, select the "ON" position of the termination switch on the back of the device.
See [[Bus Termination]] for further details.
## 2. Powering the Gateway
Every CAN FD Gateway can be powered by supplying 9-30V to the VDC and GND pins on the bottom I/O connector. If your Gateway has the PoE+ option, you may instead use Power-over-Ethernet ([IEEE 802.3](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IEEE_802.3)) to power the device.
## 3. Connecting to the Gateway
By default, the CAN FD Gateway is configured to use DHCP to automatically assign itself an IP address.
If your network does not feature a DHCP server or you are trying to connect to the device directly, make sure you own device is set to an IP address on the subnet `192.168.0.0/24` and connect to the gateway with the IP address `192.168.0.10`.
